Konjac fiber facial sponges are extremely popular and have been a beauty secret in Asian cultures for decades.  This luxuriously soft sponge gently exfoliates, cleanses, is naturally pH balanced, promotes circulation, absorbs toxins and fights bacteria while leaving your face glowing and refreshed.  This sponge is infused with bamboo charcoal and contains activated carbons and minerals that purify, supply antioxidants, help draw out excess oils and fight hard to reach acne-causing bacteria.  

What is the Konjac Sponge?

What Does the Konjac Sponge Do?

The Konjac sponge is an extremely gentle cleanser for both face and body. I have two separate sponges, one for my body and one for my face. The sponge acts as a gentle exfoliator, rubbing off dead skin cells in the most delicate manner. The extra soft texture means that its ok for anyone to use,  babies included. While this won’t replace your makeup remover (eye makeup more specifically) it can gently take off much of your face makeup in a matter of minutes.

How Do I Use the Konjac Sponge?

When you pick up your sponge it will be dry and hard. You will need to wet it under warm water until it’s completely soaked through and soft. Once it is wet and puffy, simply use the flat side in a circular motion around your face to exfoliate and remove dirt and grime. This circular massaging will stimulate tired skin & encourage skin renewal – and we can all use a bit of that!

Once you are finished with your sponge, squeeze it between your hands to get the water out – never wring out your sponge, this will deteriorate the fibers and cause its life to end a lot shorter than necessary.

Do I Need to Use a Cleanser with a Konjac Sponge?

If you choose, you can also use a bit of your cleanser with the sponge, although this may shorten its lifespan. Since keeping your skin’s natural moisture intact is essential in anti-aging, I prefer to use my sponge in the morning (sans cleanser), as a facial cleanser can be drying and unnecessary after sleeping. While many have claimed to use it to take off makeup, I would recommend using a proper eye makeup remover first, and maybe a cleanser too, as the sponge won’t take away your mascara and eyeliner.

The Black Konjac Sponge gets its colour from bamboo charcoal. This sponge is for you if you’re a teen with oily skin or someone who is prone to sun spots, blackheads and outbreaks. Charcoal contains activated carbon and various minerals that enhance absorptive ability, which is perfect for removing excess oil. Bamboo Charcoal is also a natural anti-oxidant, so will help fight hard-to-reach, acne-causing bacteria.

How Long Will My Sponge Last & How to Care for It?

Like all good things, it must come to an end, but not for at least 2 – 3 months depending on how you care for it. By ensuring that it completely dries out in between uses (there is a handy string for that) and that your sponge is never wrung out (always press between your hands to remove excess water during use), you will give your sponge a longer life.

Make sure that before and after each use, you rinse the sponge well – you can disinfect your sponge every other week by boiling it for a few minutes (but don’t do this too often, as again it will break down the fibers faster).

When it starts to break apart and deteriorate, it is time for a  new sponge. Simply compost this sponge (it is 100% natural material, and completely safe – and earth friendly – to do so). You can even put it in the bottom of a potted plant to help retain moisture in the soil – yes, it is that natural.

 Vitamin C serums are all the rage right now.  I remember when you only used vitamin C for scarring or stretch marks, but times have changed.  Vitamin C has several benefits for the skin and using it daily will help improve the overall health of your skin.  I have recently been introduced to La Beaute Pure vitamin C serum.  It's packaging is absolutely beautiful and it looks luxurious sitting on my bathroom counter.  It comes in a tinted brown glass jar and its label has a beautiful picture of oranges.  The syringe comes separate in a plastic zip lock baggie.  I opened the top and had expected to smell a citrus scent but instead the serum has no real scent at all.  I'm ok with that as I can be a bit sensitive to overpowering scents.

As you can see by my pictures, it has a very runny appearance and rolled right off my hand.  I decided the best way for me to use it was to mix it with my moisturizer.  This turned out to be the best way for me.  I felt like it also saved me the step of waiting for it to dry before applying my moisturizer.  

I like that it is all natural and a vegan formula.  It has the Certified Organic seal as well as the bunny logo that signifies it is not tested on animals.   It also contains a lot of natural plant materials  such as aloe, cassia seed, witch hazel, jojoba oil, gota kula extract, horsetail extract, geranium and dandelion extract. It also contains vitamin E and Hyaluronic acid.  The bottle does not say how much vitamin C it contains, but I did read a review comment on Amazon from the company that stated it contains 20%.  It was great to see the company interacts with its customers and responds to any concerns.  

How does it perform?  I have been holding off on writing my review as I wanted to give it some time to see results.  Serums do not perform overnight and need time to undo all the years of sun damage.  It has taken many years for my damage to occur and it will take some time to undo.  I have been using it for almost four weeks and at week three I started to see results.  I have some very dark sun spots on my forehead and cheeks which have started to fade.  I noticed that I do not have to wear as much concealer to cover them up and my overall hyper pigmentation is less noticeable.

L'OREAL Age Perfect Cell Renewal Review & First Impressions

I have been given the opportunity to try Loreal's new Age Perfect Cell Renewal day cream, night cream and serum.  I am a skin care junkie who has tried so many brands from high-end to drugstore.   I just turned 40 this year and I am focused on making my skin care routine a priority. 

These products focus on cell renewal.  As skin ages, cell renewal decreases so skin looks dry and dull.  While reading up on these products, I learned that the moisturizer and serum are supposed to speed up surface skin cell renewal, revealing millions of new skin cells each day for fresher, more youthful skin.  So basically, I will experience quicker cell turnover and more youthful skin.

Cell Renewal Golden Serum

This serum comes in a pump and I find that using two pumps covers my face and neck.  It comes out looking like liquid gold and almost has an iridescent look.  I noticed right away it is very scented.  I like the strong scent but I could see this strong scent turing someone off who is sensitive to perfumes.  It feels very soft and light weight going on my face and dries rather quickly.  I like that it dries quickly so I can apply the moisturizer.  I also like how this serum sinks into my skin leaving my face hydrated.  My first impressions so far has been fabulous and I have been using it for two weeks.  It suggests that results are expected  in four weeks, I will continue to use it daily as my results so far are visible.  

Cell Renewal Day Cream 

These moisturizers come in the most elegant gold jars that look stunning sitting on my bathroom counter.  The jars are heavy and have some weight to them, overall beautiful packaging.  The day cream and night cream are very similar.  They both have a very strong floral scent that again could bother someone with sensitivity.  Personally, I find the scent to be sweet smelling and I LOVE IT!  The day cream is light and feels wonderful slathering all over my face and neck.  The combination of the scent and feel of the cream is a luxurious.  My face and neck feel completely hydrated and I do not feel the need to reapply in a few hours. 

Cell Renewal Night Cream

The night cream has the same hydrating properties but it is a much thicker cream.  It is more dense and feels a bit heaver going on.  I am happy that it is thicker as it will hydrate my face all through the night.  I love waking up in the morning and having my face still feel hydrated.  

I have been using these three products for two weeks and this is my initial review.  It recommends using the cell renewal products for 4 weeks to see results.  So far, my experience is very positive.  My face looks dewy, soft, and hydrated.  Im not sure if this is due to cell renewal, but I am loving the results so far.  I also noticed I may need to only use one pump of the serum as I seem to be using it up rather quickly.  If I continue at this rate....I will run out before I hit the one month mark.  My skin is looking and feeling softer.  I find myself touching my face and noticing how soft it is.  I have also been wearing less makeup.  I usually wear foundation but instead I have been using BB cream.  My skin looks radiant and I do not want to cover it up with heavy foundation. The moisturizers keep my skin plump and applying BB cream is a great combination.  I am excited to see my results at the four week mark.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to review  Old Factory Candles!  These natural soy candles burn clean and are true to scent.  They come as a set of three in the box and are made in the USA.  They are hand made and poured in glass jars with a black lid.  They have an adorable sticker label with old school font. The soy candles burn clean and there is no soot rising from the flame.

It took about 10-15 minutes of burning time before I could smell the candle, but once it got going it smelled really great.  The set comes with three candles that has a scent that compliments the other.  I ordered the Fall Harvest set and received Pumpkin Spice, Cranberry, and Autumn Leaves.  I usually purchase my candles from Bath & Body Works, so I was curious to see how these would compare.  

They are very comparable in quality and have a strong scent.  I was so surprised that this little candle filled my home with such a strong scent that lasted hours.  I burned my Pumpkin Spice candle for two hours straight and it still seemed brand new.

I have been searching for the perfect eye cream for so long and I feel my search is over.  These two products have been making my under eye puffiness and fine lines disappear.  The first product is the Yalmeh Aloe Super Youth Eye Cream.  It comes in a .5 oz plastic jar and has a thick consistency.  I take a little bit out of the jar and warm it up between my fingers.  When you first touch it, it is a little thick and hard but it softens with the heat from my fingers.  I like to press this cream on my forehead wrinkles and around my mouth.  It has no scent and absorbs quickly.  I love how quickly it melts into my skin, leaving it soft and ready for makeup.

The Yalmeh Eye Bright Gel is just as amazing!  It comes it a .5 oz tube that is very generous for an eye gel.  I love that it is in a tube because you can squeeze just the right amount out, unlike a pump where you can't control the amount.  It is a light weight gel that soothes my under eye area.  It dries quickly and has no scent.  I have been using this twice a day; morning and night.  I have noticed my eyes appear less puffy, softer, and my dark circles have diminished.  

When I received these products, I was unsure of how they would work because my first impressions were deceiving.  The packaging looked a little odd with the picture of the blue faced lady.  I was wrong to think this and I am so glad I tried them.  Both products have felt amazing on my skin and decreased my under eye puffiness.  They have also decreased my fine lines on my forehead and under my eye area.  They have dried quickly, leaving my face soft and ready for makeup.  You can learn more about Yalmeh Glory Eye Bright Gel & Yalmeh Super Youth Eye Cream on Amazon.

These Konjac facial sponges are very popular and I had a chance to review one and share my opinion with all of you!  The sponge is made of natural Konjac vegetable fiber with collagen.  The sponge has an extra fine texture and is the ideal cleanser for every type of skin, even the most sensitive.  When you use it for the first time, you will notice it is as hard as a rock....literally!!  As you begin to soak it under warm water, a magical process takes place, it softens up into a sponge.  

The Cleansing Sponge will exfoliate dead cells while leaving behind a soft film that will nourish and protect your skin with additional collagen.  The sponge has an almost slimy feeling (collagen) that leave behind a silky feeling on the face as you scrub.

I used this sponge with a couple different cleansers.  The instructions say that you do not need to use a cleanser with the sponge because it has the collagen in it that performs the same as a cleanser.  I personally liked the outcome  better when I used it in conjunction with a cleanser.  I had a difficult time using the sponge without a cleanser....I felt my face was not as clean.  I tried three different cleansers.  I used a foaming cleanser, a gel cleanser, and an exfoliate cleanser.  All performed the same and did a fantastic job at cleaning my face.  I liked the way the foaming cleanser worked with the sponge, it foamed up quickly and left my face very soft.  I also used it to exfoliate my legs before shaving.  I used an exfoliate scrub with the sponge on my legs and scrubbed them before I shaved.....the outcome was AMAZING!  It lifted all the dead skin cells and left my legs silky smooth after shaving.  

The last thing I wanted to mention is the sponge has a string connected to it.  This allows for it to be hung to dry.  I am so happy it has this string as it keeps it clean when drying.  Overall, I am enjoying this Konjac sponge and have been loving it's performance.  You can learn more about the Ashieda Konjac sponge and purchase it on Amazon.com.
