I have never heard of this supplement before and was curious to know it's history. What I discovered is Caralluma Fimbriata is a succulent plant, in the cactus family.   It has been used as a natural appetite suppressant in India for centuries. It's a new arrival in the US  that is becoming increasingly popular for their appetite suppressent, and weight loss properties, as well as their ability to lower blood sugar. Supplements made from the popular hoodia cactus are, for example, growing in popularity and usage in the U.S. and Europe.

Like hoodia, caralluma fimbriata has been used to suppress appetite, and as a portable food for hunting. It is used to suppress hunger and appetite, and enhance endurance throughout India. It is also sometimes considered a "famine food," used during periods of famine to suppress appetite. For centuries, people in rural areas of India have eaten Caralluma fimbriata, which grows wild over various parts of the country.  I also learned that it has been eaten in India for centuries with spices or preserved in pickles and chutneys.  They are often located as a roadside shrub, interesting!!  Here is a picture of the caralluma flower growing on a cacti plant.  This is the image you will often see on the label of many Caralluma Fimbriata supplements.

So now that we have had a history lesson, lets talk about my personal experience with this product.  The directions suggest taking (2) 500mg capsules twice a day, 30 minutes before each meal.  Now, I don't know about you, but I'm terrible at remebering to take my supplements.  It's even harder to remember to take them 30 minutes before I eat since I don't eat at the same time everyday.  What I have found helpful is to set an alarm on my phone.  I have it set at 9am & 12:30pm as this is about the time I find myself getting hungry.  I take it with a full 8oz glass of luke warm water.  The warm water helps me digest the capsule and breakdown the outer coating on the capsule.  

Final Thoughts

I have been taking this product for two weeks and I am happy to report it's working.  I have experienced less hunger and I'm not snacking between meals.  I like that it does not upset my stomach as MANY supplements have in the past, nor does it give me the jitters.  It is effective at curbing my appetite and I can see why it has been used in India for centuries.  It IS NOT a miracle diet pill and results will vary, but for me, it has helped significantly.  If you are interested in this product, you can read more about it on Amazon.
