I have tried a couple different kitchen scales in recent years but this one is a little different. It has a circular base that contains the scale and then a medium sized bowl that fits on top for measuring weight. The bowl doesn't just sit on top of it. It actually has an edge that keeps it from sliding around on top of the scale. This is nice because if you accidentally bump the bowl it won't slide off and go crashing to the floor. The bowl has a pour spout so it's easy to pour a liquid out of the bowl with very little mess. When you are finished the bowl can be placed in the top rack of your dishwasher or hand washed and then returned back to the scale for storage. When not in use the bowl turns upside down and creates a compact dome that is easy to store and it also keeps both the bowl and scale fairly clean. When in storage mode it basically takes up about as much room as a cereal bowl so it's easy to find a spot for it. Our kitchen is very crowded so this is a very good thing.

The scale has a bright blue LCD screen that looks great and is easy to read in any light. There is a mode button on the left side and you have the ability to measure in g, oz, ozt and dwt. It is extremely accurate down to a single gram. It has a tare if you need to use another bowl to measure with. This scale has a max weight of 4 lbs which is plenty of weight for anything that I would need to measure in the kitchen. The LCD screen has an automatic 60 second shut off which is nice. If you are measuring and cooking and your hands are dirty it will automatically turn off so you don't have to stop and wash your hands and turn it off. It runs on a couple AA batteries that I included as well. The batteries should last for years of average use.
