The packaging is very fun and interesting. It has a kooky character named Dr. Cool who makes "digging" fun. My daughter noticed that the box said it would have three gemstones: Tigers Eye, Quartz, and Amethyst. So she knew how many stones to find, and when she found them all. It does come with some digging tools but my daughter found them to be a bit difficult. The tools were not quit strong enough to break through the rock. She asked me to go get the hammer! Now, I didn't get the hammer but I did get her a screwdriver. She needed a stronger tool with more ump! Once she found the first stone she used the brush to dust it off. Her favorite stone was the Quartz and she loved that it had purple in it.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this is a fun and educational gemstone digging kit. It lets you learn about the stones and feel like a real treasure hunter. It can be a bit messy so I recommend laying down a sheet or towel to collect the debris. The rocks contained in the kit are big and clean up beautifully. It was a fun afternoon project that got my daughter asking more questions about gemstones. Not all toys are educational, but this one has lasting benefits. On the downside, it is a one-time use kit. However, she gets to keep the stones and tell people that she "discovered them".
